The turf detail is utilized as a branding element for the client, a health-minded counter-serve restaurant that specializes in fresh, environmentally sustainable meals.  In order to create an association between the space’s interior and the company itself, the material selected was a boxwood ‘turf’, which is suspended above the interior, wraps through the space and down the wall to the counter alluding to the concept of the ‘fresh’ brand.   The placement of the detail allows visibility from the storefront, and the unusual texture that is introduced into the space allows natural, exterior elements to be carried into the restaurant through the color and tactility of the material selection. The turf is layered into a suspended steel frame, which was custom-fabricated to allow the lighting elements to be incorporated into the composition, aiming to create a unique atmosphere within the space.
