Lozier Foundation

Founded as the non-profit division of an established metal shelving manufacturer in Omaha, Nebraska, the Lozier Foundation was previously located in a non-descript warehouse facility. While committed to improving the quality of life for women and girls, the Foundation lacked their own identity. Upon choosing to relocate, it was important to craft a humble space that celebrates their societal contribution. The design serves as a physical manifestation of the Foundation’s mission – identifying moments of opportunity and providing goods and services for the underrepresented inhabitants. Folded ceiling elements span between Lobby and Board Room, creating transparency while maintaining privacy. White-washed wood ceiling insertions slice through the folded ceiling elements housing light fixtures and cleverly disguising return air grilles. A faceted reception and feature wall clad in cold-rolled steel and painted drywall with a high-gloss finish recalls the metal shelves of the Lozier Corporation. Wood was used on the ceiling, wall, and transaction top of the reception space. This hard outer shell evokes the grit of the communities served by the Lozier Foundation, while the wood represents hope through newfound opportunities. Folded ceilings, wood features, hot-rolled steel and environmental graphics identify communal gathering spaces, defining moments of opportunity throughout the space.
